WINSTON CHURCHILL

Post by Dealey Joe »

Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill, KG, OM, CH, TD, PC, DL, FRS, Hon. RA (30 November 1874 – 24 January 1965) was a British Conservative politician and statesman known for his leadership of the United Kingdom during the Second World War. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders of the century and served as Prime Minister twice (1940–45 and 1951–55). A noted statesman and orator, Churchill was also an officer in the British Army, a historian, a writer, and an artist. He is the only British prime minister to have received the Nobel Prize in Literature, and was the first person to be made an Honorary Citizen of the United States.Churchill was born into the aristocratic family of the Dukes of Marlborough. His father, Lord Randolph Churchill, was a charismatic politician who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer; his mother, Jenny Jerome, an American socialite. As a young army officer, he saw action in British India, the Sudan and the Second Boer War. He gained fame as a war correspondent and through books he wrote about his campaigns. At the forefront of politics for fifty years, he held many political and cabinet positions. Before the First World War, he served as President of the Board of Trade, Home Secretary and First Lord of the Admiralty as part of the Asquith Liberal government. During the war, he continued as First Lord of the Admiralty until the disastrous Gallipoli Campaign, which he had sponsored, caused his departure from government. He then served briefly on the Western Front, commanding the 6th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers. He returned to government as Minister of Munitions, Secretary of State for War, and Secretary of State for Air. After the War, Churchill served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Conservative (Baldwin) government of 1924–29, controversially returning the pound sterling in 1925 to the gold standard at its pre-War parity, a move widely seen as creating deflationary pressure on the UK economy. Also controversial were Churchill's opposition to increased home rule for India, and his resistance to the 1936 abdication of Edward VIII.Out of office and politically "in the wilderness" during the 1930s, Churchill took the lead in warning about the danger from Hitler and in campaigning for rearmament. On the outbreak of the Second World War, he was again appointed First Lord of the Admiralty. Following the resignation of Neville Chamberlain on 10 May 1940, Churchill became Prime Minister. His steadfast refusal to consider defeat, surrender or a compromise peace helped inspire British resistance, especially during the difficult early days of the War when Britain stood alone in its active opposition to Hitler. Churchill was particularly noted for his speeches and radio broadcasts, which helped inspire the British people. He led Britain as Prime Minister until victory had been secured over Nazi Germany. After the Conservative Party lost the 1945 election, he became Leader of the Opposition. In 1951, he again became Prime Minister, before retiring in 1955. Upon his death, Elizabeth II granted him the honour of a state funeral, which saw one of the largest assemblies of world statesmen ever.[1] Named the Greatest Briton of all-time in a 2002 poll, Churchill is widely regarded as being among the most influential persons in British history.

For a different view of Churchill, three books:1) Churchill's War, by David Irving2) Unconditional Hatred, by Russell Grenfell3) The Churchill Legend, by Francis NeilsonAfter two world wars, the world was made safe for the spread ofinternational communism. Kennedy inherited this situation.America was on the "winning side" in both these wars. Some people think this happened because Churchill and FDRwere instrumental in making this happen.Three books worth a read. And one article by Irving titled Irving on Churchill at the IHR sitehttp://www.ihr.org/jhr/v07/v07p498_Okeefe.html.

12.02.2017:Dear JFK Murder Solved Forum Members and Readers:12.07.2011 - Mr. Joe "Dealey Joe" Hall, the Long Time Respected and Trusted Friend of both J and B, and an Excellent Contributing Moderator and Member of the JFKMS Forum, originally Posted this Historically Very Important Headline, and Supporting Material.Ken Murray, also a Premiere Moderator and Contributing Member, Posted Additional Material.Ironically, in Mid-December, 2017 a movie about Sir Winston Churchill is due to be released featuring Gary Oldman as Sir Winston Churchill.Remember that it was Sir Winston Churchill who personally had Joseph Kennedy, Sr., Removed as U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain, and kicked out for dealing with, and financing Adolph Hitler and the Nazi's.Analogous to J. Edgar Hoover closing the bank of Prescott Bush years earlier for also dealing with, and financing Adolph Hitler and the Nazi's.As was Henry Ford, building vehicles in Germany for the Nazi's. In fact, Adolph Hitler had a life sized picture of Henry Ford, personally autographed, facing Hitler's Private Office Desk. And after World War II Henry Ford sued the U.S. Government for bombing his plants in Nazi Germany. Ford was awarded millions of dollars.12.02.2017 - Mr. John Zeroski, an Excellent and Respected Member, and one of the Very First JFKMS Forum Members, along with Bob Fox, and myself Posted what I consider to be Very Important Supporting Material for my own interests.I am Focused on THE TOP DOWN APPROACH TO THE REMOVAL OF JFK.John notably points out that after World War II "...the world was made safe for the spread of international communism. Kennedy inherited this situation."John any and all input that you are willing to provide on this Subject Matter, and the 3 books you list, would be greatly appreciated, and respected. It will be a while before I can actually read these books. But I had already intended to see the Churchill movie the weekend it comes out. Thank you. (12.02.2017, BB.)As always, I strongly recommend that you first read, research, and study material completely yourself about a Subject Matter, and then formulate your own Opinions and Theories.Any additional analyses, interviews, investigations, readings, research, studies, thoughts, or writings on any aspect of this Subject Matter ?Bear in mind that we are trying to attract and educate a Whole New Generation of JFK Researchers who may not be as well versed as you.Comments ?Respectfully,BB.

For another opinion on Gary Oldman, Winston Churchill, and this movie, I refer the readerto an article by a fellow named Jonas E Alexis at Veterans Today.http://www.veteranstoday.com/2018/01/05 ... est-hour/A slightly different view than the actor's. Churchill didn't help save westerncivilization, he helped to destroy it.

Hard to know, the guy had crushing depression, etc.. But if leaders were excluded for mental illness we would probably get even worse. The Lyndon Larouche people are big Churchill and Brit haters.

The article seems to present Hitler as the good guy and blames Churchill for not coming to an accomodation with Hitler in 1940. Stalin did come to an accomodation with Hitler but that didn't work out too well for the Russians. People forget Hitler only needed a few extra months to complete the Atomic Bomb. If he hadn't been fighting Britain he may have gotten those extra months and those of us who weren't "inferior races" would all be part of the Third Reich today. Was Britain brutal in India, of course. The same way we were brutal to American "Indians". All wars and occupations by foreign powers produce carnage. That is the whole point. Important point on the BOMB:At the start of the Manhattan Project, Britain was much further ahead than the USA in developing an atomic bomb (but still a long, long way off completion). Britain gave all of its research and progress to date to the Manhattan Project - the bomb would undoubtedly have taken significantly longer to develop without this. If Britain had 'come to an agreement' with Hitler in 1940, all of this research would have gone the other way and Hitler will have undoubtedly won the race for the bomb. Add to that, Britain would not have been available as a bomber base to destroy research facilities, war factories and other German infrastructure. Otherwise, I'm sure that long range German V-Rockets would have been operational in 1943. Bye-bye New York ... and much of the rest of the Eastern Seaboard.
