Oh dear! David Irving is very much a hate figure in his native country, and indeed in a lot of places.I won't get into whether he is anti-Semitic or not.But I have read several of his books which are available as free PDF downloads on his website and they make fascinating reading. Even his harshest critics cannot deny that he has worked like a beaver in researching for those books.I can imagine that he could be quite funny and amusing company.I have to say that I still have reservations about him, but I would rather have him as a dinner guest than any of the Bushes, Blair, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, et al.Whenever "everyone" hates someone, then all my instincts lead me to question this and look a bit deeper into what kind of person they really are, and what they actually say as opposed to what people say that they say. In most cases, there is usually something to be said for these hate figures, although not in all.
