Displaying the American Flag

Post by Dealey Joe »

I thought this might be of interest as a holliday is fast aproaching.I recall a few years ago reading the protocall on displayimg the Flag and what can top the flagpole.Upon searching the internet I can no longer find this information as to the flagpole top.Probably just don't know where to look.I also realise history does get changed. As I recall the common falg was either to have a round ball or nothing on top of the pole.A flag carried as a battle flag, military parade ect. could have the spear tip.The Presidential flag was the only flag the could be topped by an eagle or wings. This was from the days when people were patriotic

Excellent point Joe. Which holiday are you talking about...JFK's birthday (and mine) which is May 29th or Memorial Day? The flag should be important for any American, as well as the anyone's flag in any other country, as we have an international forum here. National pride is important. National history is important. I only wish our national leaders (everywhere) were as patriotic as the people that they take advantage of on a day to day basis. To them, it's all about following the money.

yes we can display our flags on bpth ocasions.if the elders do not pass heritage down to the young them it will all be lost.I know several Amish families here that teach their children to speak German.kids cannot speak English well untill they start school.I have another Norweigen/Sweed family and they teach their daughter Norwegian. and she speaks English very well.So heritage is important to us all.

I'll gladly share my pictures (of beer) with you and Joe. We will need a designated driver though. But not Bill Greer.

One guy who was also born on May 29th once did...and actually lived until he was 100 years old. He was none other than Bob Hope.Bob was always one of my all-time favorites. As was Art!Great long lives for great gentlemen! I only wish JFK, RFK, MLK and others would have been so fortunate. We would be in a much better world!
