because Oswald was to be killed in the TSBDthey had already set him up with the Carcano mail order riffleI think the word had spread through the underground that it was coming down and all the soldier of fortune people were there to watch. They were just not aware that it was called offat that location anyway.

Good discussion folks. The whole situation with the rifles was done very clumsily. Even the MSM (like Walter Cronkite) first reported that it was a Mauser...then later...a Carcano. Bottom line, the conspirators knew that no matter how many mistakes they made (and they made a ton of them), that the MSM and the government would be there to help cover their tracks. And both the MSM and the goverment still do...to this day...almost 47 years later.

Both thoughts are possible. Since it is agreed that Oswald was being set up as the fall guy, and that the weapon would be the Carcano that he supposed ordered. Does that mean the Carcano was in the TSBD, and then removed after the mission was being aborted? There are only three possible reasons for the Carcano to be the weapon of choice. First that it is some how tied to Oswald, the second would be that it was actually used, or third, that they had no other choice, but to make the carcano the weapon. All 3 reasons are suspect.Dealey Joe wrote:because Oswald was to be killed in the TSBDthey had already set him up with the Carcano mail order riffleI think the word had spread through the underground that it was coming down and all the soldier of fortune people were there to watch. if you pay attention to the videos the only weapon they pull out and show completely is a mauser the rifle leaning aginst the boxes isent shown until later but was never pulled out and shown the police came into the tsbd with rifles how do we know that the weapon leaning aginst the boxes was not one of those weapons?

Good discussion. If the plan was to frame Oswald, and if the plan was actually to be firing at JFK from the Book Depository, and if the conspirators knew they had full control of the investigation, then it seems to me that it wouldn't make sense to try to have any of the firing team attempt to leave the building with the murder weapon, and it would make no sense to have TWO rifles found on the 6th floor. Therefore I think it is possible that the Mauser was a murder weapon and that the plan was to simply substitute the Carcano later on.Personally I don't buy the abort story. I do believe Tosh Plumlee was told that he was flying in an abort team, but what are they going to tell a pilot 'Hey, you're flying in a support team for the assassination." Perhaps a few others who would not be needed were told to abort, but in my opinion there is absolutely no way the plan to assassinate JFK in Dealey Plaza was anything but a full-fledged 'go,'

It is possilbe that part of the plan was to confuse even some of the participants. Tosh being one, and maybe even Oswald as well....Kirk
