Couple of things here.I would say James Files went to Dallas knowing that the chances of him being a shooter was good, He went to scout out how to do it. Jimmy thought the route was going out Main st because the DMN had published it that way several times.From his spot of choice it was a perfect location if the Limo was on Main and even closer on Elm. But his original plan would have been for Main St.Chuck Nicoletti knew full well that Files would shoot, Chucky knew what he had in James, a killing machine.Another thing that has been talked about in error is a "Mercury TIPPED Bullet"As anyone who studies metallurgy you immediatly find out that Mercury and lead cannot touch, if they do an amalgam forms that is harder than lead.The corrected terminology would be a Mercury Charged Round, drilled out with a Charge installed in the hole.
