Largest fires...Nearly 100 square miles of forestry is burning between Santa Maria and Santa Barbara county. I have never before heard of such a large fire. This fire is about twice the size that the Los Angeles area encompasses. Can these fires be attributed to global warming, Yes or No?I have read in the past that some forest fires are caused by natural spontaneous combustion occuring within the forest itself, caused by overcrowding, old wood turned to coal, and branches and twigs rubbing against each other enough to cause a fire. I have also read that its nature's own way of clearing out the excess and welcoming renewed growth which makes a very good argument in the favor of logging. Here's a list to dispel some theories of fires being caused by global warming...

Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap Box....
http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/06 ... apbox.phpI don't know if any readers are familiar with this soap or the writings on the DR.Bronner's soap containers, but the reasons for some of the religious and political rantings and ravings is that Dr. Bronner was Jewish, and he warned his European Jewish parents to get out of Nazi occupied Europe and come to the US. They ignored his warnings. The last time he heard from them is by a postcard sent to him from his father saying' You were right."

ARSON
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/09/03/california.wildfire/In 2002, investigators determined a fire that broke out Labor Day weekend and destroyed 20,000 acres, or more than 31 square miles, started with candles used in Santeria-type animal sacrifice rituals. Santeria is an Afro-Caribbean religion in which worshippers sometimes sacrifice small animals as part of rituals imploring deities to fulfill their wishes and solve their problems. They often perform such rituals in wooded areas, believing that forests are sacred. The Angeles National Forest is commonly used for such rituals, Judy said. But Forest Service Commander Rita Wears said Santeria rituals are not being considered as a possible cause of the Station fire.

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/art ... AD9AG6JJG0 PP: I remember the Iglesia Universal (UCKG) pastors talking a lot about santeria (and witchcraft ), denouncing it as evil.
