I am getting the feeling that betting against Calvin Borel is a sucker's bet. Not only does he know how to ride. He knows the horse that he is riding. He talked about pulling back on Super Saver in the race before, and learning what he could and would do. He said that he has a Triple Crown Horse, and I bet he does, but I unfortunately don't gamble. My one wish is that they would shorten the lead to the race by 2 hours.and on ZZ top.... well they were the little ole band from Texas in my youth that went Nation Wide. Billy Gibbons is a neat guy. He had big admirers before most knew of him. Jimi Hendrix would rave about him.In mid and late 90's Billy would stay at house near where I live, with some his friends. Apparent though a millionnaire many times over, he would sleep on people's couches that he knew. We would wave to each other in passing at a little gas station store. He would was always walking this little bitty poodle.I wanted to tell him that I proposed to my wife after a ZZ show in the early 80's, but I would have had to tell him how miserable it was. The marriage not the show

Bob, "Closer To Home" was the first album I bought in the 8- track form. That one plus "The Red" album and "On time" are my favorites:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP683QuE ... Ct4bTNIpTQ

Steve Miller was apart of my soundtrack as well. He was running buddies with Boz Skaggs up in north Texas before they headed to California, and made it big. I like Miller's guitar work because it was not like anyone else at the time, but you can him imitated by a number of pop/rock bands from the 70's on.Grand Funk brings back memories. They always seemed to touring in Texas during what seemed like summers that would never end.Joe, I like the Texas Gypsies they seem to have Bob Wills meets Leon Redbone attitude, which kind of reminds me of when the Outlaw music started in Texas with Willy, Wayon and the boys.

Joe, I like the sound of the Texas Gypsies. I'm a bit of a music gypsy myself, as my dad was a jazz musician. When I was in college, I had a rock show on the campus radio station, as well as a jazz show.Ken, On Time was one of my all-time favorites as well.Kirk, Steve Miller and Boz Scaggs were roommates at the University of Wisconsin as well.

Thanks Joe,I will look into it. I feel like that I have seen them at something in Austin, but I can't place it. I wish I had given them more of my attention at the time. I miss a lot when I am talking, instead of listening.KirkDealey Joe wrote:kirk if you have not been to see the Gypsies I recomend you do.they have a lot of excitement.the youtube does not do them justice.i particularly like their song "My gal from Dallas anf Ft. Bob,Show how little I know after running a music store. I didn't know they were om Wisconsin together as well. Makes you wonder about the mystery of things. How 2 guys that good were put together by fate. Much like the Beatles to a degree. Extremely brilliant each everyone, just happening to run into each other. Meant to be is the only thing I can think of Bob wrote:Joe, I like the sound of the Texas Gypsies. I'm a bit of a music gypsy myself, as my dad was a jazz musician.
