Yea, I remember watching Satchmo on TV back when.Damn what happened to them old days.Durante, Spike Jones, Perry, Dean, Frank, Andy, Lawrence,Mitch on and on.

Joe,Dean is a favorite, and I like Frank as well. I guess that comes with age. Almost everybody that is any good at singing, steals from Louie. Tom Waits does Louie, and I get compared to Tom, so I guess I am doing Louie as well. I use to say there were two kinds of music, Good Music and Bad Music, but to be honest the divide is between what I like and what I don't. Turns out I like some stuff from the 70's that is terrible, but it reminds me of some good times. Maybe that is what music is all about. That and for old people to complain about the music of today, and young to make fun of what was.Sorry, I have been a little to philosophical today. Being the son of a guy who was a jazz musician has given me an appreciation of so many great artists. Don't get me wrong, I love rock and roll first and foremost (especially The Beatles), but music by Louie, Frank, Dean, Bing, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, etc. has really made me appreciate all genres of music.

My old Dad was a big Satchmo fan. When we grown-up-and-left-home-but-come-back-to-visit-for-the-holidays kids were staying at his place, hoping for a lovely sleep-in since we were on hols, we'd be rudely awoken soon after 0700 by Satchmo blasting through the house at 50 million decibels. Dad was a great advocate of early rising, the old bugger Loved Dean Martin, the sexy old smoothy *mwah*.
