Thanks folks. It should be a good one. I won't be getting a Christmas card from Dave Perry after this article. My name will be on the story, but a LOT of credit has to go to Joe. Joe truly is a GREAT gumshoe and researcher.In terms of autographs, I have an interesting story. When I was working in TV right out of college, I covered the Milwaukee Brewers and I was able to park right near the stadium where the press can park. It was very close to the player's lot as well. After many games I would go in the Brewers clubhouse for interviews. I got to be pretty friendly with a number of players. This was when the Brewers were called Harvey's Wallbangers. They had players like Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Cecil Cooper, Gorman Thomas, Ben Oglivie, Ted Simmons, Rollie Fingers and Pete Vuckovich. It was a wild clubhouse that's for sure. They were good on the field and wild off it. Anyway, I sort of looked like P Bob McClure of the Brewers when I was covering the team, and even some players told me that. More than once when I left the clubhouse to go to my car to leave, kids would chase me and ask for my autograph. They thought I was McClure. I kept telling them that I wasn't, but I had a few kids that told me they wanted my autograph anyway. So I autographed a few balls and programs...with my real name. They probably showed it to their dad, who probably thought...WTF??? My autograph was worthless then, and the same holds true today, not to mention 100 years in the future.
