Bob. Nixon didn't connect to the American people because he looked angry and of course his 5 o'clock shadow lol.

Nixon was also pissed off because he thought kennedy was revealing too many cards about Cuba; there were plans in the works for regime change in Havana.

A few curious things....Kennedy won the debate on television, but it was a toss up on the radio.Kennedy came across quite hawkish, especially regarding Cuba. This greatly upset Nixon because he knew Kennedy had been briefed about clandestine operations and thought Kennedy was comprising those plans. Additionally, Nixon felt he could not take a similar tact,
