What is the REAL agenda in Haiti?

Post by Pasquale DiFabrizio »

Why all the media hype about Haiti now? Weren't those people starving and destitute BEFORE the quake? The article below addresses some possibilities as to why there is so much media hype about Haiti. It addresses the possibility that Haiti is being exploited for either natural resources or as a foothold in the region to combat "anti American" or, more appropriately, anti-corporate regimes. You know the regimes I'm talking about, right? The pattern has often been that when there is a democratically elected regime in Latin America that supports minimum wages and labor unions, somehow those governments were labeled "communist" or as the boogymen...then they're toppled somehow.Anyway, here's the article.http://www.johnpilger.com/page.asp?partid=564

Dead on balls, as usual, Pasquale. I also can't help wondering how much more resilient their construction & infrastructure would've been, but for our destabilizing influence on their political scene. A few more deaths you can lay at the feet of the Bush crime family!

You tell it, Pasquale. I wonder why the Vatican is not demanding a guaranteed minimum income for everybody in the world. That would be sufficiant for all inhabitants of the planet to rebuild destroyed houses by themselves. Maybe the doctrine is, that this minimum socialty, which would be the minimum precondition of any christianity, would keep the people from the influence of catholizism, cause the lack of despair would create a lack of need to pray to a pope. Or is that cynical? Chris

Excellent take Pasquale. Chris, in terms of your take...wasn't Martin Luther from Germany? I'm mean it's not that the Church doesn't have the money. Look at all the legal costs it had to incur due to the behavior of certain priests.

Something rang a few bells for me to.I church hop on Saturdays and Sundays. At one Catholic Church they were getting up donations for Haiti, expressing it to be the pooorest country on EARTH>where people live on $2 dollars a day ...This happened around Christmastime...I was wondering why they were singling Haiti out and showing slides etc...when there is more help desperately needed at places like Mexico etc...
