06.12.2013Dear JFK Murder Solved Forum Members and Readers:Mr. Medgar Wiley Evers, a Great Civil Rights Leader, was murdered 50 years ago today in Mississippi.Medgar was murdered just hours after President JFK had given a speech on CivilRights.Medgar had served in the U.S. Army in Normandy, France, and Germany after beinginducted in 1943. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1946 after fighting for hiscountry that he loved.Medgar Wiley Evers was buried with Full Military Honors in Arlington Cemetery afterhe was murdered. Medgar was fighting non-violently for the rights of all Americanswhen he was murdered by a sniper in Mississippi.In 1996 the acclaimed Movie Director Rob Reiner directed the movie The Ghosts ofMississippi. The emotionally charged, thought provoking movie starred Alec Baldwin,James Woods, Virginia Madsen, Whoopi Goldberg, Susanna Thompson, Craig T. Nelson,Lucas Black, William H. Macy, Brock Peters, Jesse Owens, Jackie Robinson, Malcom X,and a long list of additional notables among the All Star Cast.Very little fanfare or mention today about Medgar Wiley Evers that I witnessed.There was rejoicing over his murder by many openly back in 1963.Just as there was open rejoicing by many on 11.22.1963 when JFK was murdered.As there was in 1968 on both occasions when MLK and RFK were murdered.The attitude, climate, and temperament of the U.S. was vastly different in many waysback then.Have we improved ? Where ? How ?Have we as a society learned any lessons from the sins of the past ?Do we refect upon, and re-visit these concerns and issues often enough ?What is the duty of The Main Stream Media here today ?Do they accomplish anything worthwhile along these lines ?Comments ?Respectfully,BB.
