Medgar Evers Assassination: Conspiracy?

Does anyone have information indicating a government connection to the assassination of Medgar Evers? On June 12, 1963, not long after JFK delivered a speech in support of civil rights, white supremacist Byron De La Beckwith assassinated Evers, shooting the NAACP field secretary in the back. Beckwith wouldn't be convicted of the crime until 1994. But there were certainly some usual circumstances surrounding the killing, including the rifle being left behind and an anonymous tipster (maybe Beckwith?) leading authorities to the weapon. I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard anything that conflicts with the official story. Thank you.
