Re: The Family
anyone ever been to Barker Ranch? i did in the 80's with some friends. it was beautiful in the day (if you like that kind of environment) yet, extremely frightening at night. we only stayed one night 'cause i was exhausted from fright the night before. strange bugs, noises and images of Charlie or Sadie creepy crawling me!!! lol! first night i "slept" with a gun! you can still go there (if you dare). but, PLEASE don't loot! the Spahn Ranch, long gone, is beautiful as well. the waterfall was still there, the cave. it was hard to imagine the buildings, but it was fun. Squeeky is 15 miles away from me, the other side of the lake. she wouldn't be my myspace friend though? HA!
Re: The Family

John Beckham wrote:Helter Skelter the directors cut by John Gray with Jeremey Davies was no way like the "Bugs" version. much more realistic. if you have not seen it, it's a must!Hi John,I bought it and thought it was superior to the orignal Helter Skelter in the fact that it went into more detail...

Re: The Family
Hello,After watching the director's cut,I see that this film shows in some scenes how Manson manipulated these young impressionable and desperate people and mind controlled them. I have been doing some research into this case and will be back ....

Michael Nesmith got the part that Stills tried out for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfuBREMXxtsJohn, you probably know of Charlie's ties to Terry Melcher (who used to live in the Tate house and was Doris Day's son) and also Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys.Charlie is evil, but he wasn't all bad...he loved the Beatles...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OM9KRpEkGfYThe Beach Boys recorded a song written by Charles Manson ...it actually came out on a B side of a demo....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi2YRtIK ... re=related Charles Manson sings.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrvXl7JN ... elatedSick City by Charles Manson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mbX8Ud-q68The MANSON gIRLS SING http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZozqQNRuZk

I have a cousin name Larry Murray that resides in Sherman Oaks Ca. He's the famous one in the family. He worked with Johnny Cash for 15 years. Before that he was the music coordinator for the Glenn Campbell show. Also he was part of a folk-rock band called "Hearts and Flowers" which produced 2 albums and were popular mainly on the west coast in the mid 60's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgnU4KrGCuUMy cousin knew Terry Melcher quite well. My cousin also work at the famous Troubadour where he was listen to acts who he would then approve for performing there. Well lo and behold one Charles Manson came in there in 1966 I believe and auditioned and Larry told him he wasn't good enough. Needless to say when Manson got arrested and Larry saw his face on TV, he became quite startled. Here's more on my cousin's career:From his only solo album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8DfeBQ_ ... e=apr_2009

It's a good thing Charlie didn't have your cousin's address, based on the fact that Charlie thought Terry Melcher still lived at the Tate residence when he sent part of his "family" there to kill that night.
Re: The Family
That's for sure Bob. Terry Melcher went into hiding for several years after the Manson murders occured. My cousin was down here for a visit with my mom for a week here in Oct. while going to a high school reunion. So he shared some more of his experiences with me and my son who loves his music by the way. Oh he mentioned something quite interesting . He was performing along with Sonny and Cher and others at a RFK campaign rally in Sacramento the day before RFK was shot.
