Key Witness: Jackie Kennedy

You know, it recently occurred to me that as a witness, Jackie Kennedy has not gotten much attention- it's almost as if she too was killed during the shooting. She doesn't remember going back on the trunk of the car to retrieve pieces of her husband, but she does remember having the president in her arms as they drove to Parkland, his head resting on her lap. she also mentioned the windshield between the drivers and the pasengers. these are vagely visable and you can see the governor and mrs connely hit their heads on it like the limo is braking and then they collapse to the floor. That windshield makes it impossible for a shot to come through the front windshield and hit jfk in the throat.

That's a great point, Tom. I remember the middle glass as being rather low though, so I'm not 100% sure a bullet would have had to pass through it. I'll get to checking on it- and I'll let you know what I find..

well it does take the wind out of Ruby's sails...because she still had to testify for the WC..but they handled her like a mentally challenged child...if you think about it,seems like (from what I've read)...all the of the WC questioning was soft...then you think,why,because they didnt want the truth.

Was she recalling having been driven in the limo when the privacy window was installed and had been confused? Was she trying to make a point about the carelessness of the Secret Service?

In September, 1961, the entire center partition area was removed and redesigned, based, apparently, on the recommendations of the Secret Service. The privacy window was taken out, and a removable metal frame was designed with glass side panels to hold the rest of the bubbletop in place. On the day of the assassination, the metal frame was in place, but the bubbletop was in the limo's trunk. Apparently, this configuration was used in case a sudden downpour should start (the early morning had been rainy). Ironically, the bubbletop, though not bullet-proof (nothing on the car was at that time) might have deflected some of the shots, made focusing on the target harder, and contributed to saving the President's life. Vince Palamara has determined that JFK did not order the bubble top off, but that Sam Kinney took responsibility for that fatal mistake.

there was glass partitions between the conneleys and the drivers. they are split in the middle and were photographed at the hospital if you look closely. look at the slow motion of the z film and watch only the conneleys and you can see them hit the windows and then their heads go down.

Still, there's little doubt in my mind that she described a wound (or wounds) that did not match the Warren's Commission's findings and so it was simply deleted- out of respect to the president and his family of course!Could they have possibly been any more obvious?"Oh, and don't forget to clean the car and destroy the windshield."
