If you're going to shoot at a target that is moving and for which you might require follow-up shots, a semi-automatic rifle, like the Springfield M-14 in .308 would have been an EXCELLENT weapon. No bolt is there that you have to cycle, just point shoot, aim and shoot again and again. I had one myself. They're very accurate, and the .308 round packs a wallup. Of course, the Mauser bolt action rifle is also top of the line too.

Yeah, why use a rifle that will actually be accurate and automatic, when you can use a bolt action with a bad sight?

Then there's the relatively impotent round of the Manlicher-Carcano. Compared to the Mauser, which was identified as a 7.65mm or even the Springfield M-14 round, 7.62mm. There's NO comparison at all.

A bolt action rifle that requires a minimum of 2.25 seconds to recoil the thing, a misaligned scope, plus you had to wait until it stops vibrating after you fired a round. Sure I can buy that.

Sure I can buy that. But in the latest bullshit Discovery special that tried to prove the "magic bullet" theory was possible, the scope was NOT misaligned. Yet, Gary Mack and the other "experts", go along with all the things that DID NOT happen that way on 11/22/1963 in that "misaligned" production.
