One of my best friends in the world has German heritage, and I spent a lot of time out at his family cottage at a German-American park. I also went out with a girl for three and a half years, and her mother was from Germany. Needless to say, I got used to life around a lot of people originally from Germany. Funny story, we went out to a German restaraunt once with several friends and of course the waitress was originally from Germany. One of my buddies, used to try and speak German, and he really didn't know the langauge at all. He was trying to be funny. The waitress didn't think it was funny at ALL, when he called her a schwinehundt and asked for some more drinks. He had NO idea what he had just said. All I know is that I wouldn't have eaten his meal after it was served.
