Larry...er...Gary is TRULY embarrassing himself with EVERY production he is part of. But you know what? Dunkel...er...Mack doesn't care. He has his 30 silver pieces and he has the MSM (Discovery) licking his boot tops. However, the ultimate price Larry...er...Gary paid because of this was his ethical soul. Worth the price Dunkel...er...Mack? At least you can hang with Posner and Bugliosi though.

I'm looking forward to hearing Jim D. next week, plus I'm looking forward to Douglas Horne tonight on BOR. I hope Jim mentions the Vince Bugliosi-David Phillips connection as well, as that revelation (the posted letter between the two) by Randy is an amazing piece of information, and it truly explains Bugliosi's lone nut stance.

Replying per Bob's mention in his post:I just got an e-mail from Mr. DiEugenio. I had sent him a color print-out of the Phillips-Bugliosi letter. The letter had a phone number handwritten on it with an "818" area-code. I had assumed this to be (a) Phillips' handwriting and (b) either Phillips' phone number or Bugliosi's. Jim assumed that I'd written the phone number on the document facsimile, or that it was my number! I had to correct him and reassure him.Any citizen can get into NARA or LoC to review and duplicate documents. NARA has a very rigorous process whereby you must shed everything in your pockets. You cannot enter the facility with a back-pack, wallet, pen, pencil, paper, notepad, book or pocket-knife. You are only allowed to enter with a digital camera (fortunate, for me). When you leave the facility, they don't make you go through a strip-search and body-cavity search, but they are thorough. Remember the Sandy Burger scandal of June, 2004? Some time ago -- maybe in 2003 or 2004 -- George Will wrote a newspaper op-ed about "liberal paranoia," and stated that no evidence of a conspiracy had ever come out of the document declassifications during the Clinton Presidency under the 1992 JFK Records Collection Act. I think -- if you look at my posts on the "OPERATION ZIPPER" thread, you'll see that the combination of record declassifications with other evidentiary information can be much more potent than either taken separately. This is the flaw in Will's op-ed. But [what is called here] the "MSM" always avoids any mention of valid, indisputable and useful discoveries. The public has 30 theories and 4,000 books pointing in several directions, and they can choose to believe any one or several of those artifacts. In another thread here, people are asking "what evidence is there?" The point I'll make here: In a case wherein the most professional cover-up efforts were employed to eliminate evidence, you cannot take the approach common to conventional criminal investigation. And "evidence" [such as I fancy that I discovered -- "in print," no less] will either be subtle, ignored, quickly discounted, or used in distortions to prove another half-truth or fiction.I can't even be sure -- with what we know now -- that any consensus will coalesce among historians eventually so that -- 100 years from now -- people will be disposed to see things in preponderantly the same way. Without "judicial notice" (other than the Warren Report -- a fiction] -- there is no public consensus. Otherwise, the documents and especially the handling of those documents is critically important. Don't annotate your facsimiles. Make sure you get an accession stamp from the NARA caretakers.

I mean thats Phillips MO, but to know theres docmented evidence of it thats a very big wow. Thats a kicker Randy. Sorry for not keeping up with the play I've just been working on a piece thats taking most of my energy at the moment so its been eyes down and no more distractions.Where are the links? Seamus -- If you mean "where are the pages of the Phillips-Bugliosi letter of 1986, I posted them in the OPERATION ZIPPER thread.DiEugenio told me in an e-mail that I shouldn't publicize them too much -- they were an important discovery.I had a 3.1 megapixel Olympus camera, and a month to split between NARA and Library of Congress. The camera had maybe 900 MB of storage -- at that time, the largest XD memory you could get for it. So I was rationing my snaps. For instance, I mentioned in OZ the unpublished Phillips manuscript "Double Blind" which I'd found in the Phillips boxes at LoC. It was "mostly written" by James Phillips, according to Dave Phillips' son in the handwritten note he'd added to the file. So I didn't attempt to grab facsimiles of that manuscript. And frankly -- I don't think there's much there. If Phillips chose the title "Double Blind," then the manuscript could be a ruse. Either way, the books he managed to get published would be more important. When I was going through those files, I was interested in the law-suit, and snapped the Bugliosi letter. Then I literally forgot about it until a few weeks ago -- when I found it on my hard disk. And it's odd, really. The Phillips papers have been in LoC for close to 15 years or more. Nobody was interested enough to find it before 2004, and it would've been Bugliosi's undoing (perhaps) if they had. Can you imagine a book reviewer, knowledgeable about Phillips, reviewing "Reclaiming History" when it was first published in 2007? That would've been devastating . . . . to Bugliosi.
