Two shots from behind the fence?
Two shots from behind the fence?
Not heard this one before:I was never one of the people who had doubts or suspicions about the Warren Commission's report on the President'sdeath. But five years after Jack died, I was having dinner with Kenny O'Donnell and a few other people at Jimmy'sHarborside Restaurant in Boston, and we got to talking about the assassination.I was surprised to hear O'Donnell say that he was sure he had heard two shots that came from behind the fence."That's not what you told the Warren Commission," I said."You're right," he replied. "I told the F.B.I. what I had heard, but they said it couldn't have happened that way and that I must have been imagining things. So I testified the way they wanted me to. I just didn't want to stir up any more pain and trouble for the family.""I can't believe it," I said. "I wouldn't have done that in a million years. I would have told the truth.""Tip, you have to understand. The family-everybody wanted this thing behind them."Dave Powers was with us at dinner that night, and his recollection of the shots was the same as O'Donnell's. Kenny O'Donnell is no longer alive, but during the writing of this book I checked with Dave Powers. As they say in the news business, he stands by his story.(TIP O'NEILL book, "Man of the House" 1987)

Mike Martinez,I spoke at length once with David Lifton, the author of "Best Evidence." He tape recorded our conversation and was especially interested in why I thought it was Richard Helms behind the assassination. He joked that William Harvey was probably in Dealey Plaza somewhere at the time and we discussed Lee Harvey Oswald as he was preparing a book on Lee. You mentioned why the conspirators didn't take care of the body at Parkland Hospital. They did. I made the argument with Lifton that the body never left Parlkand when everyone thinks that it did. There is an underground passageway below the hospital and an exit from the premises. Also, I think the passageway connected to a medical school a few blocks away. My argument with Mr. Lifton was he was correct about the body alteration but that it took place in Dallas, perhaps at that nearby medical school and they were set up to do the pre autopsy before Kennedy's plane landed at Love Field. While Johnson and the entourage are flying back the pre autopsy is being hastily done and the body flown by jet to Bethesday arriving before Johnson et, al arrived. Long ago I was walking out of the university library at midnight when the ah ha moment hit full force. I just finished Forrest Sorrel's testimony from the Warren Commission documents. He said the shots were coming from the terrace area. This coming from a Secret Service in the vehicle ahead of Kennedy's,... well everything became clear. At some point you to will have your ah ha moment and it will not be pleasant. www.jfkcia.com

I have never heard that theory.

Ken O'Donnell was a JFK loyalist for sure, but it wasn't just he and the Kennedy faction that ushered JFK's body out of Dallas. I'm sure my friend Ken can provide a link, but the Secret Service played a major role as well, including some people that were NOT considered Kennedy loyalists. Overall, I'm very disappointed in O'Connell's behavior overall. The day of the assassination I'm sure O'Connell was filled with disbelief and emotional anguish. I'm sure he wanted to do right by the family. So his actions at Parkland were not unpredictable. But the fact that he did NOT tell the truth about the shooting to the Warren Commission (he heard shots from the knoll), whether or not it was due to prodding by the FBI or not, was inexcusable.

Re: Two shots from behind the fence?
Dealey Joe & Mike Martinez,Dealey Joe. The "terrace" is the grassy knoll to the right and front of Kennedy. No one calls this area the grassy knoll until the first books come out on the assassination. While the Warren Commission is doing it's investigation it is called other things. Mike Maritnez. This theory of Kennedy's body not actually leaving on that plane is my theory alone. Or at least until someone claims it's their theory in any book they may write. As much as I admire David Lifton there doesn't leave much time to do the work, then get the body over for the formal autopsy, etc. The record shows that there is somebody claiming to be secret service waiting for Kennedy's body to be brought to the morgue even before JFK reaches the hospital. I think they are already set up to do the pre autopsy before he is shot and it's going to be done in Dallas. There is a few minutes after the nurses cleaned the president's body and placed him in the coffin but before the coffin is whisked away, that that room was off limits even to secret service. "FBI" agents had sealed it off. I don't think these were real FBI and this would have been the chance to make the switch. There were many comments by the men who were carrying the coffin with JFK's presumed body loading it on the plane, who mentioned how extraodianary heavy it was. www.jfkcia.com

When and where the alterations to the president's body took place are questions, in my opinion, that cannot be answered with certainty at this time, though it is certainly interesting to explore the possibilities. That the president's body was altered sometime between the Parkland emergency room and the autopsy at Bethesda, however, can be stated with 100% certainty, and this fact tells us more about the nature of the conspiracy to kill JFK -and the conspiracy to cover it up- than any other single fact. For me, this is the keystone to understanding the assassination.Thom
