BRITISH PETROLEUM

Post by Dealey Joe »

BP p.l.c.[3][4] (LSE: BP, NYSE: BP) is a global oil and gas company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It is the third-largest energy company and fourth-largest company in the world measured by revenues and one of the six oil and gas "supermajors".[5][6] It is vertically-integrated and is active in every area of the oil and gas industry, including exploration and production, refining, distribution and marketing, petrochemicals, power generation and trading. It also has major renewable energy activities, including in biofuels, hydrogen, solar and wind power.BP has operations in over 80 countries, produces around 3.8 million barrels of oil equivalent per day and has 22,400 service stations worldwidIn May 1901, William Knox D'Arcy was granted a concession by the Shah of Iran to search for oil, which he discovered in May 1908.[16] This was the first commercially significant find in the Middle East. On 14 April 1909, the Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC) was incorporated as a subsidiary of Burmah Oil Company to exploit this.[16] In 1923, it employed future Prime Minister, Winston Churchill as a paid consultant, to lobby the British government to allow Burmah to have exclusive rights to Persian oil resources, which were successfully granted.[17] In 1935, it became the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC).[16]Following World War II, AIOC and the Iranian government initially resisted nationalist pressure to revise AIOC's concession terms still further in Iran's favour. But in March 1951, the pro-western Prime Minister Ali Razmara was assassinated.[18] The Majlis of Iran (parliament) elected a nationalist, Mohammed Mossadeq, as prime minister. In April, the Majlis nationalised the oil industry by unanimous vote.[19] The National Iranian Oil Company was formed as a result, displacing the AIOC.[20] The AIOC withdrew its management from Iran, and organised an effective boycott of Iranian oil. The British government – which owned the AIOC – contested the nationalisation at the International Court of Justice at The Hague, but its complaint was dismissed.[21]By spring of 1953, incoming US President Dwight D. Eisenhower authorised the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to organise a coup against the Mossadeq government with support from the British government.[22] On 19 August 1953, Mossadeq was forced from office by the CIA conspiracy, involving the Shah and the Iranian military, and known by its codename, Operation Ajax.[22]Mossadeq was replaced by pro-Western general Fazlollah Zahedi[23] and the Shah, who returned to Iran after having left the country briefly to await the outcome of the coup. The Shah abolished the democratic Constitution and assumed autocratic powers. After the coup, Mossadeq's National Iranian Oil Company became an international consortium, and AIOC resumed operations in Iran as a member of it.[20] The consortium agreed to share profits on a 50–50 basis with Iran, "but not to open its books to Iranian auditors or to allow Iranians onto its board of directors."[24] AIOC, as a part of the Anglo-American coup d'état deal, was not allowed to monopolise Iranian oil as before. It was limited to a 40% share in a new international consortium. For the rest, 40% went to the five major American companies and 20% went to Royal Dutch Shell and Compagnie Française des Pétroles, now Total S.A..[25]The AIOC became the British Petroleum Company in 1954. In 1959, the company expanded beyond the Middle East to Alaska[26] and in 1965 it was the first company to strike oil in the North Sea.[27] In 1978 the company acquired a controlling interest in Standard Oil of Ohio or Sohio, a breakoff of the former Standard Oil that had been broken up after anti-trust litigation.[28] In 1967 there was the disaster of the giant oil tanker, the Torrey Canyon, which founded off the English coast, even though the ship was flying the well known flag of convenience, that of Liberia. the ship was in fact operated on behalf of B.P. the Prime Minister of that time, 1967, had the ship bombed by RAF jet bombers, in an effort to break it up and sink it, in regard to the final oil spill it was futile, and the method has not been repeated. It continued to operate in Iran until the Islamic Revolution in 1979. The new regime of Ayatollah Khomeini confiscated all of the company’s assets in Iran without compensation, bringing to an end its 70-year presence in Iran.1980s and 1990sClassic shield logo, designed by Raymond Loewy and used until 2002Sir Peter Walters was the company chairman from 1981 to 1990.[29] This was the era of the Thatcher government's privatisation strategy. The British government sold its entire holding in the company in several tranches between 1979 and 1987.[30] The sale process was marked by an attempt by the Kuwait Investment Authority, the investment arm of the Kuwait government, to acquire control of the company.[31] This was ultimately blocked by the strong opposition of the British government. In 1987, British Petroleum negotiated the acquisition of Britoil[32] and the remaining publicly traded shares of Standard Oil of Ohio.[28]Walters was replaced by Robert Horton in 1989. Horton carried out a major corporate down-sizing exercise removing various tiers of management at the Head Office.[33]Standard Oil of California and Gulf Oil merged in 1984, the largest merger in history at that time. Under the anti-trust regulation, SoCal divested many of Gulf's operating subsidiaries, and sold some Gulf stations and a refinery in the eastern United States.[34]John Browne, who had been on the board as managing director since 1991, was appointed group chief executive in 1995.[35] Browne was responsible for three major acquisitions; Amoco, ARCO and Burmah-Castrol (see below).21st centuryBritish Petroleum merged with Amoco (formerly Standard Oil of Indiana) in December 1998,[36] becoming BP Amoco plc.[37] In 2000, BP Amoco acquired Arco (Atlantic Richfield Co.)[38] and Burmah Castrol plc.[39] As part of the merger's brand awareness, the company helped the Tate Modern British Art launch RePresenting Britain 1500–2000[40] In 2001, the company formally renamed itself as BP plc[37] and adopted the tagline "Beyond Petroleum," which remains in use today. It states that BP was never meant to be an abbreviation of its tagline. Most Amoco stations in the United States were converted to BP's brand and corporate identity. In many states BP continued to sell Amoco branded petrol even in service stations with the BP identity as Amoco was rated the best petroleum brand by consumers for 16 consecutive years and also enjoyed one of the three highest brand loyalty reputations for petrol in the US, comparable only to Chevron and Shell. In May 2008, when the Amoco name was mostly phased out in favour of "BP Gasoline with Invigorate", promoting BP's new additive, the highest grade of BP petrol available in the United States was still called Amoco Ultimate.Chief scientist, Steven Koonin (top right, with laptop), speaks about the energy scene in the boardroom in 2005.In April 2004, BP decided to move most of its petrochemical businesses into a separate entity called Innovene within the BP Group. BP sought to sell the new company possibly via an initial public offering (IPO) in the US, and filed IPO plans for Innovene with the New York Stock Exchange on 12 September 2005. On 7 October 2005 BP announced that it had agreed to sell Innovene to INEOS, a privately held UK chemical company for $9 billion, thereby scrapping its plans for the IPO.[41]In 2005, BP announced that it would be leaving the Colorado market.[42] Many locations were re-branded as Conoco.[43]Westlake Park in the Energy Corridor area of Houston has BP America's headquartersIn 2006, when Chevron Corporation gave exclusive rights to the Texaco brand name in the US Texaco sold most of the BP gas stations in the southeast. BP has recently looked to grow its oil exploration activities in frontier areas such as the former Soviet Union for its future reserves.[44] In Russia, BP owns 50% of TNK-BP with the other half owned by three Russian billionaires. TNK-BP accounts for a fifth of BP's global reserves, a quarter of BP's production, and nearly a tenth of its global profits.[45]In 2007, BP sold its corporate-owned convenience stores, typically known as "BP Connect", to local franchisees and jobbers.[46]On 12 January 2007, it was announced that Lord Browne would retire as chief executive at the end of July 2007.[47] The new Chief Executive, Tony Hayward, had been head of exploration and production. It had been expected that Lord Browne would retire in February 2008 when he reached the age of 60, the standard retirement age at BP. Browne resigned abruptly from BP on 1 May 2007, following the lifting of a legal injunction preventing Associated Newspapers from publishing details about his gay lover. Hayward succeeded Browne with immediate effect.[48]On 1 October 2010, Bob Dudley replaced Tony Hayward as the company's CEO.[49]On 15 January 2011, Rosneft and BP announced a deal to jointly develop East-Prinovozemelsky field on the Russian arctic shelf. As part of the deal, Rosneft will receive 5% of BP's shares (worth approximately $7.8 billion, as of January 2011) and BP will get approximately 9.5% of Rosneft's shares in exchange.[50] According to the deal, the two companies will also create an Arctic technology centre in Russia to develop technologies and engineering practices for safe arctic hydrocarbons extraction.[51]In February 2011, BP formed a partnership with Reliance Industries, taking a 30 percent stake in a new Indian joint-venture for an initial payment of $7.2 billion.e.[7][8] Its largest division is BP America, which is the biggest producer of oil and gas in the United States and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.[9][10][11] As at 31 December 2010 BP had total proven commercial reserves of 18.07 billion barrels of oil equivalent.[2] The name "BP" derives from the initials of one of the company's former legal names, British Petroleum.[12][13]BP's track record of corporate social responsibility has been mixed. The company has been involved in a number of major environmental and safety incidents and received criticism for its political influence. However, in 1997 it became the first major oil company to publicly acknowledge the need to take steps against climate change, and in that year established a company-wide target to reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases.[14] BP currently invests over $1 billion per year in the development of renewable energy sources, and has committed to spend $8 billion on renewables in the 2005 to 2015 period.[15]BP's primary listing is on the London Stock Exchange and it is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. It has a secondary listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil:by Bruce Patrick Brychek » Wed Jun 09, 2010 10:43 pm Dear Mr. Wim Dankbaar, Bob, Tom Jeffers, Phil Dragoo, and Fellow JFK Forum Members:Gulf Coast Americans, get used to oil, and lots of it. Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil. It's not so bad, you'll get used to it ! Right ?!?Well it must not be so bad because today Mr. President Barack Obama pledged $ 400 million more to Gaza, while he begs Israel to please stop their blockade which has been renounced by the United Nations. Go ahead, plead with Israel because Lord knows you can't do anything more. But hell, why would we even think of sending $ 400 million dollars to aid Gulf Coast Americans whose lives are being destroyed by a foreign oil company ?In addition, we are sending over $ 20 billion per month to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan for The Military Industrial War Complex, and The War Profiteers, which will be increased to over $ 25 billion per month in 30 - 60 days. They Count that much.Wait until the residual long term birth and health defects begin surfacing. Prediction: The Government will act surprised. The Powers that be in America are happy to scream and yell at bp for dragging its heals giving $ 5,000.00 to Gulf Coast Americans in very serious trouble. This will make Hurricane Katrina look like a thunderstorm in Comparative Analysis for damages. The bp (British Petroleum) oil spill will take 500 years or more to neutralize. Like the smell and taste of oil Gulf Coast Americans, because you don't count ?But in the mean time, let's keep sending American Soldiers and the National Guard to help Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan, because they count, and they deserve $ 20 billion dollars per month being poured overseas by The Military Industrial Complex, and The War Profiteers. But not you Gulf Coast Americans. Money talks, and B.S. walks where I'm from.By the way, the Exxon-Valdez Oil Spill still hasn't been cleaned up yet, only superficially. And want a real surprise ? Research how much of the levied fines have ever actually been collected from the oil companies involved in the Exxon-Valdez Oil Spill ?!?In the back of my mind I keep humming that tune: POPULATION CONTROL.Comments ?Respectfully,Bruce Patrick Brychek.Last edited by Bruce Patrick Brychek on Sat Jun 26, 2010 8:37 pm, edited 6 times in total. Right now the coast of Louisiana has been devastated by the ecological and environmental harm this ONGOING oil rupture and spill has caused. Plus you have the people that make their living in the fishing and shrimp industry that have seen the way to provide for their families washed away in oil. LOTS of it.First, why the continuing effort to kiss Israel's ass, when people on the Gulf Coast desperately need help? It's simple. AIPAC (Israel) is the largest lobbying group in Washington. They give more money to politicians than ANY other lobbyist group, and that includes big banking, big insurance, big pharma and big oil. Speaking of big oil, Barry Obama has received his share of money from BP. Obama's biggest problem is the people he has surrounded himself with. People like Bob Gates, his Secretary of Defense. Gates is a former CIA director, was a player in Iran/Contra and has always been part of the Military Industrial Complex. People like Hillary Clinton, who is his Secretary of State. Clinton has ALWAYS been pro-Israel and has always been a hawk in sheep's clothing when it came to issues about the Middle East. Iran has always been on her hit list. When Obama and Clinton were debating about foreign policy during the campaign of 2008, it was clear they had sharp differences. That's why it made NO sense that Obama would name Hillary as his foreign policy leader. But after a secret meeting at the 2008 Bilderberger meeting, it indeed happened. People like Rahm Emanuel, who is Obama's Chief of Staff. Emanuel and Hillary both supported the war in Iraq, while they were in Congress by the way. Emanuel is the bankers lobby favorite. He was the top recipient of donations from hedge funds, private equity, investment and securities firms when he served in Congress. Personally, he earned $18 million in 2.5 years between government jobs at a hedge fund firm. He served on the board of Freddie Mac from 2000-2001 when its decision making helped bring on the housing crisis. It is no surprise that health care reform turned into an insurance company giveaway, while banking reform is giving Wall Street everything it wants and the foreclosure crisis continues unabated. Emanuel is also a hawk. His father was an Irgun terrorist for Zionists. Emanuel volunteered for the Israeli Defense Forces during the first Gulf War while serving in Congress. He endorsed Obama after the candidate gave a hawkish, pro-Israel speech before the right-wing Israeli lobby, AIPAC, and then introduced Obama to their executive board of major donors. In 2006, when the Democrats won with a mandate to end the war, Emanuel made sure ending the war was off the table. It is not surprising he is chief of staff of a White House that has broken all war spending records and has escalated militarism around the globe.People like Timothy Geithner, who is Obama's Secretary of the Treasury. Geithner is ALL about Wall Street and the Fed. Geithner runs with the same crowd that Henry Paulson (Dumbya Bu$h's Treasury Secretary) ran with on Wall Street. Paulson was the former CEO of Goldman Sachs. Geithner is a CFR member and was the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. People like Ken Salazar, Obama's Secretary of the Interior. Salazar has always been someone that was closely connected to big oil. He has received substantial amounts of money from the oil industry as well.So now we have the worst ecological event in U.S. history. Some say that this won't be resolved until December, in terms of actually stopping the massive leak. Meanwhile, guess what just started? Hurricane season. The shit has not yet begun to hit the fan, as this hurricane season looks like it could be very rough, based on estimates by experts. The Gulf of Mexico has always been a hot zone for hurricanes, and all the oil has made it even hotter.I also have to say that the Dumbya Bu$h/Dick Cheney administration played a MAJOR part in this debacle. The Bu$h family has made it's money through treasonous war profiteering, but also in the oil industry. Remember Poppy at Zapata. Poppy was also part of the Dallas Petroleum Club, along with folks like David Atlee Phillips, D.H. Byrd and George Demohrenshildt. Dumbya was part of Harkin and Arbusto, which had investors like the bin Ladens by the way. Cheney is the former CEO of Halliburton, who worked close with Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran before the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Again, people forget about the oil pipeline in Afghanistan that is a huge factor as to why the U.S. is there. That, and all the drugs over there. Right Poppy? Iraq has huge amounts of oil, but Iran has even more. That is why I expect a confrontation soon with them as well, if Israel doesn't beat the U.S. to it. Ken Lay of Enron fame/shame was the BIGGEST single contributor to Bu$h/Cheney in the 2000 election. Lay was with the heads of big oil when they all met with Cheney in the spring of 2001 in one of the first meetings of the secret energy task force. This was several months BEFORE 9/11. Cheney, Lay and the BIG oil boys were looking at maps of oil fields in Iraq. Check out this article from Rolling Stone about this situation, it's quite an eye opener... http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/ne ... 965"Follow the money." - Deep Throathttp://www.ctka.net/2010/perry.htmlhttp://jame ... om/2011/01 ... orist.htmlhttp://judythbaker.blogspot.com/2011/02 ... -bush.htmlBobBob Posts: 4592Joined: Sun Feb 26, 2006 4:39 pmLocation: Florida/WisconsinPrivate messageE-mail BobTop--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Edit postDelete postReport this postInformationReply with quoteRe: Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil:by JDThomas » Thu Jun 10, 2010 8:30 am Heard interesting radio interview yesterday with a gulf coast oil industry accident specialist with over 30 years experience. Until comparitively recently he said that most commercial gulf drilling had been shallow water enterprises and they used to get 1 or 2 'blow outs' every year and after a while received very little publicity. Being shallow water, the well heads were easy to invesigate and stem and spilt oil was burned off until a relief well was drilled. Interstingly, little of anything new was developed to understand how to prevent or reduce the impact of the blow-outs.So when the move to deeper water drilling began, what safety impact assessments were undertaken by the industry? ... looks like practically nil. What did the various arms of government investigate before granting the drilling licences? ... looks like very little. Deep water drilling enterprises present many different challenges from shallow water and the methods of dealing with a blow-out simply don't apply - it shouldn't have taken a genius to work this out. So the present apparent bumbling efforts to stop the problem can be summarised in:- Plan A didn't work and was never going to work- There was no plan B- They are now in unknown territory and have not got a clue if anything will workIts easy to be wise after the event, but there has to be collective responsibility accross the board here. Given the history of the blow-outs, the oil companies should never have applied to drill without a workable safety plan and the authorities should never have granted licences. On the other hand, while the powers that be have allowed oil prices to rocket, feeding fears of instability in the Middle East and 'shortages' - I'm sure that blind-eyes were turned to oversight.I'm just repeating from memory what the guy said, so if anyone has anything further or contrary to add - please educate me!One wonders if this disaster had occurred in the Bush era whether there would have been a news blackout for 'National Security' reasons. Or else journalists not towing the line might end up found drowned in the blackstuff togther with ready-made coroner verdicts of suicide!JDThomas Posts: 163Joined: Wed Apr 29, 2009 2:24 pmLocation: United KingdomPrivate messageE-mail JDThomasTop--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Edit postDelete postReport this postInformationReply with quoteRe: Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil:by kenmurray » Thu Jun 10, 2010 8:45 pm http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100610/ap_ ... Are you familiar with the term "extinction - level event"? I don't know if we're quite there yet, but don't give us too many bumps. I expect to see an initial increase in precipitation, as the surrounding waters are warmed by the heat attracted by the black oil of the spill, decreasing as it spreads outward. Oil inhibits evaporation. as the oil spreads, less water will lift from the surface, meaning less precipitation. less rain means crop failures, and that creates famine. this scenario doesn't even take into account the leaching out of god knows what chemical compounds into the oceans of the world. The fish & other aquatic life aren't going to like that. Also abandon any hope of the slick not spreading to Europe. It will. It's oil, that's what it does on water. It's not a stretch to say, "if the oceans die, we die". Any significance to that, that I am unaware of ?Last week Rachel Maddow on MSNBC introduced me to the terminology:ENVIRONMENTAL ARMAGEDDON.Today, you introduce me to the terminology:EXTINCTION - LEVEL EVENT.To my way of thinking, this is way, way beyond critical.Yet today's discussions about Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan translate to me that we will be increasing the $ 20 billion dollars per month to $ 25 billion per month or more, so that we may "introduce democracy," and "preserve and improve their way of life" in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan. This is certainly not the real direction that "We the people..." want for ourselves.Bob - As I write this, MSNBC' S Keith Olbermann now quotes the Doomsday Scenario, as they are now discussing the worst case scenario, and would just have to abandon all efforts because the ocean floor is about to erupt due to the 65 days of substantial erosion. A nuclear bomb won't work at this point. This could ultimately affect 25 % - 40 % of the U.S.A. coastlines. It is relatively short and concise. The Gulf is done. The oil is not all floating. Partly from the toxic dispersant and the stuff is basically cracking in the warm water. The vaporizing smell from the stuff evaporating and leaving tar balls with the consistency of hot asphalt washing up on the shore and left who knows where else. And then we have folks with shovels and trash bags scooping contaminated sand. Talk about pissing in the wind. I don't think BP can survive this either. We have the Earth hemorrhaging oil and BP hemorrhaging money in kind of an ironic twisted race. The thought that comes to my mind is the Earth bleeding toxins from us drilling holes in it. The goal of the meeting, however, was not to coordinate cleanup and recovery efforts, but to once again give a US and UK government guarantee of the profits of BP.A statement on the meeting released by Cameron’s office on Sunday reports that Obama and Cameron “agreed that BP should meet its obligations to cap the leak, clean up the damage and meet legitimate compensation claims. They also agreed that it was to both countries’ advantage for BP to remain a strong and stable company.”The reference to “legitimate claims” was intended as a clear signal that the governments of the two companies would not press for full restitution of those impacted by the disaster. BP has used the same term repeatedly, even as it has delayed or denied claims. The language deliberately places the onus on the individual or business affected by the disaster to prove that their claim is in fact “legitimate.”The US government’s commitment to limiting the liability of BP was underscored by comments from Kenneth Feinberg, the administrator of the $20 billion compensation fund, who will be tasked with mediating claims. During a town hall meeting in Larose, Louisiana on June 25, Feinberg declared, “There is absolutely no sense at all driving BP into bankruptcy. That would be a disaster.”As for the statement that BP will remain “strong and stable,” put simply this means that the company should return adequate profits to its investors. The message sent to BP shareholders was received loud and clear. Reports of the meeting’s conclusions led to a rise of 3.99 percent in BP’s shares, which had fallen to a 14-year record low on Friday. The meeting during the G20 summit was only the latest in a series of statements from both Cameron and Obama pledging their commitment to BP profits. Cameron warned earlier in the week, during an interview with CBC, that it was “in all our long-term interests that there is some clarity, some finality, to all of this, so that we don’t at the same time see the destruction of a company that is important for all our interests.”Cameron sought to reassure critics of BP as well as company shareholders by claiming that the company had the best interests of the public at heart, saying “BP wants to cap the oil, it wants to clean up the oil, it wants to pay compensation to fishermen and hotel owners and people who have suffered and it should do that.” In fact, the interests of BP are in direct conflict with both a serious clean up and containment response, and adequate compensation for those whose lives have been devastated. The prime minister added, “I believe it can and I believe it should and I believe it is in both Britain and America’s interests that BP remains a strong and stable company.”As for the Obama administration, its response has been, from the beginning, to defend BP, the oil industry, and the expansion of deep-sea oil drilling. While any just and rational response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster would necessarily include the criminal investigation and prosecution of BP executives, along with the seizure of the company’s assets for the purpose of funding an emergency response to the oil spill, the response of the Obama administration has been to minimize and cover up the size of the disaster, to protect BP from financial liabilities and to defuse public anger towards the oil giant. As the Deepwater Horizon spill began, the Obama administration not only did not make any arrests, but instead left BP in charge of cleanup and containment efforts, insisting falsely that the oil company was the only body with the technology and expertise to bring an end to the spill. Obama also left unchallenged BP’s assertions that scientific data collected on site by the corporation was proprietary information that did not have to be made public. There can be no doubt that granting these rights to BP contributed significantly to the worsening of the disaster. As public anger grew, the administration made a brief and fleeting reference to a possible criminal probe, but this has since been dropped. While Obama made public relations appearances in the media during previous weeks intended to portray the president as “angry and frustrated” over the spill and BP’s handling of it, he met privately with BP CEO Tony Hayward to work out measures for limiting BP’s financial liability. The creation of a $20 billion fund, to be paid out over four years, was designed to create as minimal impact as possible on the company’s cash flow. The selection of Feinberg, with the full approval of BP executives, was intended as another signal to Wall Street and the City of London that the company’s bottom line would be protected.Should the company be proven criminally negligent in its actions leading up to the April 20 Deepwater Horizon disaster—and there is ample evidence to prove that it was—there would be no limit to the amount it would be forced to pay in compensation. The real cost of the spill could reach well beyond $1 trillion, far more than the company is worth. The escrow fund was also an attempt to cover-up for the fact that the federal government has done nothing to mobilize social resources to respond to the disaster or to ensure proper compensation.Meanwhile, the disaster caused by the oil giant continued to spread. A significant amount of oil has now washed ashore on the beaches of Mississippi. A thick oil sheen and tar balls made landfall on Sunday with at least seven of the state’s beaches affected. The further devastation of the fishing and tourism industries in the state, along with Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida, are virtually guaranteed."Follow the money." - Deep Throathttp://www.ctka.net/2010/perry.htmlhttp://jame ... om/2011/01 ... orist.htmlhttp://judythbaker.blogspot.com/2011/02 ... -bush.htmlBob

Excellent as per your usual it appears. To anybody following the bp Oil Tsunami, let me know if you have heard this. I found this out from Jimmy, a prisoner in the most maximum security unit of Stateville Penitentiary. Interesting !?!Jimmy and I just received information from a former high level government law enforcement person that we know, like, and trust. He always proves deadly, and precisely accurate. That said, our friend reports that when the explosion occurred, a fire erupted. Instead of letting it burn as they should have, they poured millions of gallons of water on an oil and gas fire, which I know to be insane myself. The proper type and amount of chemical fire retardants were not immediately or readily available.Unfortunately the dead men were most likely dead already. The weight and force of millions of gallons of water caused the oil platform to collapse, causing the extreme weight and force of the collapsing structure to break the oil well pipe a mile below.Comments ?Respectfully,Bruce Patrick Brychek.Bruce Patrick Brychek Posts: 642Joined: Sat May 26, 2007 4:09 amPrivate messageE-mail Bruce Patrick BrychekTop--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Edit postDelete postReport this postInformationReply with quoteRe: Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil:by Dealey Joe » Thu Jul 01, 2010 1:48 pm Interesting video on the drilling of the relief wellhttp://bp.concerts.com/gom/kwellsreliefwells062710.htmREMEMBER NOVEMBER 22, 2013 IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER.Dealey Joe Posts: 2784Joined: Fri Oct 16, 2009 1:45 amLocation: Durant, OKPrivate messageE-mail Dealey JoeWebsiteTop--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Edit postDelete postReport this postInformationReply with quoteRe: Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil:by kenmurray » Fri Jul 02, 2010 9:33 am Volunteers ready, but left out of spill cleanup:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100702/ap_ ... _oil_spillkenmurray Posts: 3027Joined: Mon May 04, 2009 3:55 pmPrivate messageE-mail kenmurrayTop--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Edit postDelete postReport this postInformationReply with quoteRe: Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil:by Bob » Fri Jul 02, 2010 11:46 am BP and BS...http://www.counterpunch.org/prashad07022010.html"Follow the money." - Deep Throathttp://www.ctka.net/2010/perry.htmlhttp://jame ... om/2011/01 ... orist.htmlhttp://judythbaker.blogspot.com/2011/02 ... -bush.htmlBobBob Posts: 4592Joined: Sun Feb 26, 2006 4:39 pmLocation: Florida/WisconsinPrivate messageE-mail BobTop--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Edit postDelete postReport this postInformationReply with quoteRe: Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil:by Dealey Joe » Fri Jul 02, 2010 12:04 pm I am wondering what is going on behind our backs while we are watching the oil gush?? Oceanic researchers from the Gulf Coast universities have discovered recently that the dispersants usedby BP dissolved the crude oil into microscopic particles suspended in the gulf waters, which slowly and gradually sank to thebottom in huge amounts and has killed all marine life there. There is insufficient light, oxygen, and marine plankton for anymarine life to exist in these areas. The area designated so far, as a DeadZone, is roughly 40 miles long by about 3-5 miles inwidth. These marine scientists have spent months aboard research vessels taking seabed samples and have unequivocalmarine evidence of these dead zones, which also accompany those along the shore lines where crude has killed all larvae, eggs, live animals and birds, and vegetation it came into contact with. This is all the more reason deepwell exploraton should be banned until as a Nation we can guarantee the safety of thesewells offshore. Our Nation, like most of the rest of the world is hooked on cheap readily available crude oil. Instead, weshould be thinking longterm, spending our research dollars not on going to the Moon or Mercury, but biofuels, solar, andwind panels, hydroelectric and wave action technologies which would make us energy independent forever.Barney Posts: 201Joined: Wed Oct 13, 2010 11:03 amPrivate messageE-mail BarneyTop--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Edit postDelete postReport this postInformationReply with quoteRe: Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil:by kenmurray » Thu Oct 28, 2010 3:48 pm http://www.nola.com/news/gulf-oil-spill ... unces.htmlkenmurray Posts: 3027Joined: Mon May 04, 2009 3:55 pmPrivate messageE-mail kenmurrayTop--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Edit postDelete postReport this postInformationReply with quoteRe: Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil:by Bob » Thu Oct 28, 2010 9:25 pm Please see this...http://www.thepeoplesvoice.org/TPV3/Voi ... #more14485The horrid situation tells the world how big oil is interconnected to the U.S. government. Ken Feinberg states he has already authorizeda little over 1.3 billion in claim payments on behalf of the BP Trust Fund, and would have authorized even more if the persons makingclaims would provide better or any documentation of their alleged losses. The Feinberg law firm is being paid $800,000 per month tomanage and handle the damage claims arising from the Deepwater Horizon explosion. Not a bad days work eh.The other issue was the fact that BP and its drilling partner, Halliburton, Dick Cheney's old stompin grounds, failed to use certified concreteto plug the well but decided to re-invent the wheel, and use some of nitrogen injected concrete slurry into the wellhead in hopes that it would harden and solidify faster and harder. Didnt happen, pressures continued to rise to the point many men wished to abandon thewell but had no opportunity to do so before the drill rig exploded burned down and collapsed into the Gulf of Mexico.Barney Posts: 201Joined: Wed Oct 13, 2010 11:03 amPrivate messageE-mail BarneyTop--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Edit postDelete postReport this postInformationReply with quoteRe: Bathe, Drink, Eat, and Grow In Oil:by bob franklin » Wed Nov 24, 2010 10:33 pm Read this interesting little story. pay close attention to the departed. The fishing industry as awhole may take a decade or more to recover, and may never fully recover from the crude dumped into the offshore and onshore waters and estuaries which are the breeding and growing grounds for our shellfish, varietiesof seafood products, and the people who depend upon this marine resource are at this disasters mercy.
