Ernesto Rodriguez

Has anyone managed to dig-up anything about this character? The ARRB managed to declassify a CIA 201 file concerning him in 1996, apparently after much protest from the agency.201 file of 26 November 1963 heading reads:MARIA RODRIGUEZ LOPEZ, WIDOW OF LOPEZ SAID A SON IN LAW OF HERS WHO LIVES IN NEW ORLEANS WAS WELL ACQUAINTED WITH LEE HARVEY OSWALDApparently, said Ernesto Rodriguez was a known anti-Castro Cuban who ran a Spanish language school out of the infamous Camp Street address in New Orleans. This school came under the Berlitz umbrella - remember David Atlee Phillips used the Berlitz office in Cuba as a recruiting office - funny that, isn't it? Isn't it also funny that it is now known that David Atlee Phillips was running a designated CIA campaign to discredit the Fair Play For Cuba Committee, which just happened to have LHO running its New Orleans chapter out of the very same Camp Street address? (ref. 'Destiny Betrayed' - Jim De Eugenio)Maria also claimed that Ernesto had numerous taped conversations with LHO.It has also been thought that Ernesto was a CIA contract agent, primarily in Mexico city. It has also been speculated that Ernesto was the Cuban whom an American (later presumed to be LHO) was observed to be in discussion with in Mexico City and who the American was calling 'Ernie'. 'Ernie' was also seen to count-out a considerable sum in US Dollars and give it to the American. The source of the Mexico information was one Pedro Valencia - the FBI searched hard for dirt on Valencia, but found nothing but glowing references, so guess what? they did not follow-up the lead, just sat on it and hid it away.No wonder the CIA kept the 201 file on him marked as SECRET for over 30 years until it was 'juiced' out-of them by the ARRB.Original ARRB sanitised is here:https://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/arch ... elPageId=2

Thanks Ken - that's great stuff and saved me a lot of time too.I think that we have to discount the Mexico city end of things for now as suspect, but the CIA 201 file still stands and warrants further investigation. I wonder if Jim Garrison et al. got to know of Ernesto?
